A younger generation of Chicago blues harmonica virtuosos
Album: Bad Man
Twelve tracks with eight new compositions from an all star Chicago blues line up, including two Grammy nominees, Billy Flynn and Frank Krakowski.
Album: Ain't No Notion
For his third appearance on Random Chance, Martin Lang and crew have concocted a tasty and deep reiteration of the classic 1950s electric Chicago blues harmonica sound perfected by Little Walter and the Aces. We now know that this heritage is in good hands. The album title comes from the assertion that blues harp "ain't no notion;" it's serious, committed music. Lang is joined by guitarists Rusty Zinn and Billy Flynn; Bassists Illinois Slim and Jimmy Upstairs; drummer Dean Haas; pianist Dave Waldman; and vocalist Oscar Wilson.
Album: Chicago Harp Blues Sessions
Martin Lang combines an assimilation of the sounds of the great Chicago blues harmonica artists such as Junior Wells and Little Walter with a sensibility attuned to contemporary trends in arts and music. He previously participated in an early CD release of Random Chance Records, "Harmonica Blues Orgy," produced by Dave Meyer. His four tracks on the 16 track CD that also featured Little Arthur Duncan, Easy Baby, and Willie "Big Eye" Smith helped make it one of the best selling of the labels releases.
