Dynamic keyboardist
Colors
Scott Brown is a pianist/keyboard/composer who, while in his teens, worked with Jaco Pastorious and learned from keyboard legend Joe Zawinul. This album, Colors, is his second release on Random Chance Records. His first release was Flavors (RDM 32), which included artists such as Grant Green Jr, Charnette Mofit and Gene Lake. This new CD also includes drummer Gene Lake in the line up along with Norbert Marius, guitar; Linard on bass; Mark Johnson on sax; Nathan Peck on bass; and Richard Lee Wendell on trumpet, among others. Scott Brown's work stresses funky rhythms, fluid melodic lines and is accessible to a pop/rock audience as well as to fusion/jazz listeners.
Flavors
Keyboardist Scott Brown leads a very dynamic group of musicians in a fusion/funk/jazz album that features a tribute to the great jazz bass innovator Jaco Pastorius. When he was a teenager Brown played in Pastorius' band during the last year of Pastorius' life.
The song "My Son From New York," is dedicated to Jaco and includes a verbal introduction by him.
