BILL O’CONNELL has played and recorded with Gato Barbieri, Dave Valentin, Mongo Santamaria, Conrad Herweg, Kenney Rankin and others. He plays in New York area clubs, and at jazz festivals around the world, including Montreau, and the Canary Islands (where the title Black Sand comes from--the black sand beaches). His forte is latin jazz and many of his compositions are on CDs by flutist Dave Valentin and Gato Barbieri. A major presence in today’s jazz scene, two-time Grammy award winner RANDY BRECKER plays on two tracks (2 & 6) Of this CD.
